Redevelopment projects give new life to Omaha's 10th and 13th Streets corridors

Traces of immigrant enclaves live on south of downtown Omaha: the Sons of Italy hall; the Ethnic Sandwich Shop; the Bohemian Cafe ghost sign at 13th and William Streets. But redevelopment projects continue to transform neighborhoods rooted in ethnic identity into homes for a new and different population.

When Ethan Bondelid opened his nightclub on 10th Street south of the Old Market, it had few neighbors, was "off the beaten path" - and was the kind of place people plan to go to rather than drop in on the way to somewhere else. That was House of Loom in 2011.
